If it’s a misfed then the shredder will either power through or reverse out paper.

Using the patented SafeSense® technology, the shredder automatically shuts down as soon as it detects when hands are too close to the paper entry. At the paper feed entry, are sensors that detect body heat. So when hands are too near the paper entry slot, an indicator will light up and the shredding will immediately stop whatever it is doing. When your hands are no longer near the paper entry the shredder will resume operation when your hands are no longer near the paper entry slot. Also for added safety, an indicator flashes to warn that the SafeSense® technology is shut off.
